What Makes Sheffield Town Hall So Special?

Sheffield Town Hall is one of my favourite places for intimate city weddings. Sitting right in the heart of Sheffield, it's incredibly easy for guests to get to by train, tram or car, and once your ceremony is over you're only a short walk from some of the city's best reception venues.

It's a Grade I listed building, and it's not hard to see why. From the grand stone staircase to the elegant ceremony rooms, every corner feels timeless. As a photographer, I love how much character it adds to your images without needing anything overly styled or posed.

Sheffield Town Hall has capacity to host intimate wedding ceremonies with just your nearest and dearest to much bigger wedding celebrations in their Mirror Room upstairs. Tips For Couples Thinking About Getting Married at Sheffield Town Hall.

A few tips from your Yorkshire Wedding Photographer that may help sway your decision...

1. Confetti at Sheffield Town Hall

   
   

   Sheffield Town Hall allow confetti outside of the venue. The side walkway creates a lovely natural corridor, so all your guests can line up without blocking the pavement. It also means everyone fits into the frame, making for one of my favourite confetti moments in Sheffield.

   
   

2. How much time should you allow for photos?

   
   

   In my experience, Sheffield Town Hall is really relaxed when it comes to photographs outside the venue. Around 30 minutes is usually plenty of time for confetti and family photos before we head off for couple portraits around the city. I'd always recommend allowing another 30 minutes for those - you'll be surprised how quickly it goes!

   
   

3. What if it rains during photos?

   
   

   One of the reasons I love photographing weddings in Sheffield is that bad weather rarely causes a problem. There are plenty of covered walkways, beautiful indoor spaces and cosy cocktail bars nearby, so we can still create gorgeous photographs whatever the weather decides to do.

   
   

4. That brings me on to the Peace Gardens...

   
   

   I ALWAYS allow time to head for photos in here regardless of the weather. It's such a fun, lush greenery and the plants make for such a dramatic contrast to the city when it comes to your photos.

   
   

5. Where can our guests meet afterwards?

   
   

   Whilst you're having your photos taken as newlyweds, there's an abundance of bars nearby where your guests can wait for you:

   
   

   Public – a quirky underground cocktail bar in the old public toilets (definitely worth booking if you have a larger group).

   Head of Steam – relaxed with plenty of space.

   Cambridge Street Collective – ideal if guests want food and drinks.

   Ego – another great option within walking distance.
