Planning a DIY Wedding at Stretton Manor Barn

Before every wedding day, I ask my couples about their plans and supplier list - I love getting an insight into how their day will come together. When Grace told me she’d be creating all of the décor and florals herself, and sent over her Pinterest board, I knew this was going to be something really special.

Stretton Manor Barn is such a brilliant blank canvas for couples who want to put their own stamp on their day. Whether you’re planning a full DIY wedding or just adding personal elements alongside professional suppliers, the space works beautifully for both.

An Intimate and Personal Wedding Ceremony

Grace and Chris chose to have an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their ceremony was led by celebrant Jenny, who created a relaxed, heartfelt and deeply personal experience for them both.

There were so many lovely touches throughout - including a four-legged ring bearer (always a win in my book!) and sealing the ceremony with a celebratory shot. These are the moments I love capturing most as a Yorkshire wedding photographer - real, meaningful, and full of personality.

The Wedding Breakfast & Reception at Stretton Manor Barn

While we headed off for some natural, relaxed couple portraits around the grounds, the incredible team at Stretton Manor Barn transformed the ceremony space for the wedding breakfast.

The barn was styled with long trestle tables, handmade florals and carefully curated details that perfectly reflected Grace and Chris as a couple. The room looked effortlessly beautiful - warm, welcoming and full of character.

Show-Stopping DIY Wedding Florals

The florals from this wedding will live in my head rent-free forever. Grace grew and arranged every single flower herself - and I was (and still am) completely obsessed.

Colourful florals are always a win, but for an autumn wedding they are next level. Rich, warm tones photograph beautifully and contrast so perfectly against a white wedding dress. If you’re planning a Yorkshire wedding, I can’t recommend colourful flowers enough - the camera absolutely loves them.

Thoughtful DIY Wedding Décor

Everywhere you looked, there was another beautifully made detail - all created by the bride herself. From the linen signage and personalised table numbers featuring their gorgeous dog, to the thoughtful favours and finishing touches, it was a true labour of love.

This is the beauty of a DIY wedding: when done well, it feels incredibly personal and meaningful - and Stretton Manor Barn is the perfect venue to bring that vision to life.
